Vallformosa's commitment to the territory
Vallformosa's commitment to the territory and people is firm and forms part of the company's pillars. For this reason, the company participated at the end of August in a solidarity auction in favor of the Red Cross, organized by the Pla de Manlleu winegrowers.
In the middle of the harvest campaign, the Association of Wine Growers of the +500 zone, recognized for the quality of its grapes, the result of the particular conditions that occur at that height (more than 500 meters above sea level), auctioned part of their Montonega grapes.
In total, around 7,000 kilos for which each invited winery (including Codorniu, Vilarnau and Freixenet) submitted their bid with a minimum starting price of 70 cents, to cover production costs for the winegrowers. With an offer of €1.3 per kilo, Vallformosa took the prize and is already thinking about what to do with it.
Marta Vidal, CEO of Vallformosa, shared her joy with the media: "In Vallformosa we are clear that we must dignify this profession, support the territory and the people paying fair prices. That is why we knew that we had to be part of this initiative, together with the winegrowers of this area, so close to Vallformosa and key to the quality of our products. But we never imagined that we would get the sale! We will study with the technical team where and how to allocate this product of great quality".
